this motion is to recommit with instructions. H.R. 3864 repeals overtime pay for millions of employees working in the computer sales and funeral services industry. These antiworking provisions, Mr. Speaker, have never been considered by the Committee on Education and the Workforce in this Congress or evaluated by expert witnesses to determine what impact they will have on the workforce. Eliminating overtime means workers will work longer hours for less pay. In effect, this bill steals time and money from workers. My motion strikes the provisions of the bill that repeal overtime pay. It also closes the legal loophole that permits sweat shops to operate in the Northern Mariana Islands by phasing in the Federal minimum wage. I urge Members to support this motion to preserve overtime pay for workers.
