I appreciate your confirming my understanding of the intent of the reauthorization act. Also, I join you in urging the administration to make its appointments without delay. The commission must begin working on a long-term funding solution so that we can avoid such problems as we are addressing today. I would like to thank the majority leader for providing me this opportunity to clarify the matter of appointments to the National Civil Aviation Review Commission. His support and leadership have been instrumental in the efforts of the Commerce Committee to address the needs of the National Aviation Transportation System. At this point, I once again urge the administration to assume responsibility for making appointments to the National Civil Aviation Review Commission, so that the long-term funding needs of the FAA can be addressed.
