I would object to the request at this time. But I am encouraged that we could get together and work to try to find a way to develop a list that would complete this very important education bill and bring it to final passage. I think we should pursue this to see if we can develop the list. I don't know how long it would be.

I think if they would go back to the old way of getting things done, carefully and systematically, would really help them.
My recommendation to the Congress and to the president would be, quit campaigning, quit having press conferences. Sit down at a round table and negotiate a deal.
We are going to start doing things a little differently. We are going to go back and do some of the things that worked.
You've got to do that every now and then. Even though you might get your little flak from some of the people within your conference. It's called leadership.
