My point is that under the current law--and we are currently filling out our disclosure forms--all a spouse needs to say is that they had income and specifically decline to state the amount of income. The Senator is familiar with that. They just state, yes, they did have income, but they state, no, they do not wish to disclose. I say to my good friend, why should we not have a similar concept here? Why should we not have a concept saying there is no reporting of gifts to the spouse because she declines to report them?
