Now, I think he would be outraged if he knew that somebody here on the floor was associating his wife with drug abusers, who shouldn't get the unemployment insurance benefits that she deserves. Robert from Somerset wrote to me to say: I am an unemployed Vietnam vet who received my last unemployment check last week. What can I do about this? If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Why is it so hard for you and the other Members of Congress, our Representatives, to help us by voting for the extension of unemployment benefits? Banks do not have to beg, but we do. I don't recall any of the bank management risking their lives for our country. If they're interested in experimentation for how to do things better, why don't they experiment with maybe denying the banks and investment banks some of the benefits they've gotten? I think this veteran would be outraged for somebody to tell him that the government is subsidizing his unemployment and destroying his motivation to work.
