Yes. In fact, I briefly mentioned in my testimony today that the immediate way we reduce our dependency on foreign oil is to drive toward efficiency.

America still has the opportunity to lead the world in a new industrial revolution.

I outlined a three-point strategy that does make sense that will get us to, hopefully, greatly decreasing our oil imports.

America is highly dependent on oil and our climate is changing as a result of our carbon emissions. In order to mitigate the considerable risks to climate change, the world has to transition to a sustainable energy future.

Energy efficiency is not just the low hanging fruit; it's the fruit lying on the ground.

Completely energy-independent--it will take some decades, but certainly decreasing our dependency on foreign oil is something that I believe we can do.

I do believe hydropower is proven technology. It is clean.

The electrification of personal short-range vehicles is one very good way of decreasing our foreign oil dependency.

Nuclear power is clearly a clean source of domestic energy that the American people support.

Nuclear power plants will provide long term economic benefits.

I urge this committee and the Senate to look closely at this issue in the coming months, and I look forward to working with you on it.

Investment in energy R&D will drive innovation across the economy and maintain American competitiveness.
