I think it's diminished respect for us. You see that most strongly in Europe, say, when the U.S. walked away from the Paris Climate Pact or they see things going on in this country that to them doesn't represent the America they thought they knew.

Mr. Putin clearly wants to get Ukraine within the Russian sphere of influence. He does not want Ukraine to affiliate with the European Union. Obviously, he doesn't want it to affiliate with NATO.
