I join with many colleagues who came to the Senate Chamber today to express appreciation and recognition of Senator Robert Byrd as today he cast his 17,000th vote representing the people of West Virginia. I can hardly think of what more to say other than he has truly been an exemplary Member of this body and a pillar of this institution, someone we all respect. I only hope our votes can be cast as conscientiously as his have been all these many years. I join my colleagues in congratulating him today.
