I would like to recognize that for over 25 years, the Federal government, together with Indian tribes, states, and local parties, have acknowledged that negotiated Indian water rights settlements are preferable to the protracted litigation.

Too many waters remain polluted in this country. Too many Americans still lack access to adequate sanitation, stormwater, and drinking water services.

You have my full commitment to elevate these issues, discuss them rigorously within the Administration and to work with you and the Committee members in that effort.
