We have a unitary executive, and if the President sets a policy and issues a policy directive, we will follow that policy.
I can see a scenario where Jeff Sessions is replaced with a recess appointment and that attorney general doesn't fire Bob Mueller, but he just reduces the budget so low that his investigation grinds to almost a halt.
I fully expect that the summit statement will be direct, to the point, and reflect the Allies' current threat assessment.
But there is nobody this arguing now that Bob Mueller doesn't have legitimacy to investigate these facts and circumstances.
