You cannot impose democracy. That is an oxymoron.

But in the vast majority of cases, support for democracy serves both our interests and our ideals.

I have not found that being a woman is a handicap. In fact, I have found it a terrific gender to be.

I have always been a grateful American, and I was taught by my father to appreciate both the fragility of democracy and its resilience.
