the president knows at the end of the day, law enforcement wants to return home safely as well as communities wanting to return home safely to their families when they`ve had interaction with law enforcement.

This is extraordinary, in and of itself, of the fact that we have a President of the United States, interfering with an election, the fact that we are looking at criminal charges, against a former President of the United States.

They must be held accountable.

Leaders across this country, we have had a very tough few years under our past president. Things are significantly better. But you have to know when it’s time to pass the baton, and that time is now for me.

I still believe that had we not made the decision to relieve him of his duties at that time, that what we were experiencing on our streets at that time would have been significantly worse. I stand by that decision.

Just three months into my term, we were hit with the largest cyber attack in municipal government history, taking our systems offline for months in exchange for a ransom that we would not pay.

I will not stand for reelection.

Well, the rules of the game have been changed. And it’s so important that people understand the parameters that we are now forced to operate in, in the state of Georgia.

At a time when our democracy is under attack across his country... this was an opportunity for the state of Georgia to expand access to voting, to be an example to the rest of the nation.

So it’s my hope that people will work with us to make sure that everybody in this state who is eligible to register to vote will be registered to vote, and that people will stand in the gap for those who will be obstructed.

Just as elections have consequences, so do the actions of those who are elected.

Anything that the former President is celebrating is usually not a good thing for voters, the majority of the voters in the State of Georgia, and it is -- it's exhausting.
