Washington can't turn its back on Katrina victims.

You know, here in Louisiana, we feel like we are citizens of the United States who are nearly forgotten.

The only people who are deserving of Katrina fatigue are the Louisiana folks who have been in the trenches now for over two months.

These falsehoods show the appalling degree to which Mr. Brown is either out of touch with the truth or reality.

Governor Blanco said earlier today that she is very worried about the strength of the levees and she fears that some could completely give way.

The president and I both agree that people in shelters need more stable private housing.

We are working with local leaders, we are working with churches and we're asking FEMA to allow churches who so desire to use some of their land to set up these interim housing units.

But I want citizens who are in the coastal parishes to start making preparations to leave now.

The buck stops here. And as your governor, I take full responsibility.

As your governor, I pledge that I will not rest until every Louisiana family and community is reunited.

We need your help. We need everything you've got.

Well, you know, I think that we expect that of ourselves. But we expect help to follow quickly. And I guess that was where the frustration came in.
