We face the task of developing new approaches to the management of transboundary water resources.

We, the CIS member states, must answer the question of what we want the Commonwealth to look like in the long term and what place it should occupy in the rapidly changing geopolitical architecture of Eurasia.

I am convinced that, given mutual interest and firm political will, we can achieve significant progress in expanding cooperation across many areas of mutual interest.

We must not allow the Caspian Sea to suffer the same fate.
