I tend to side with the head of the National Fraternal Order of Police in his assessment of this situation and the commitment made by Secretary Chao that the police officers, fire individuals, and EMTs will not be impacted. It has been made very clear the regulation has no impact on them, and I think it is just not correct to make that statement, although I can understand the Senator can read the regulations and has concluded that, but nobody else has.

I think Dr. Rivlin is absolutely correct on both points, and Simpson-Bowles did the same thing that Domenici-Rivlin did, which was to actually increase benefits to single women over 85, and low-income individuals.
