John F. Kennedy: “We cannot escape our dangers--neither must we let them drive us into panic or narrow isolation.”

Before my term has ended, we shall have to test anew whether a nation organized and governed such as ours can endure.

These various elements in our foreign policy lead, as I have said, to a single goal--the goal of a peaceful world of free and independent states.

All of us together--this Administration, this Congress, this nation--must forge those answers.

We shall be judged more by what we do at home than by what we preach abroad.
