We have to get the message out about what service in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines means to their country.

It is essential for our national security that our government do all it can to support our armed forces.

We know that today our armed forces are facing serious shortfalls in recruitment.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Eveland for all that he has done not only for veterans, but for his country.

This year, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States celebrates its 100th year of providing a voice for the American military retiree.

Bruce Eveland is a tremendous asset to veterans everywhere, and, on the dawn of his homecoming celebration in Lumberton, New Jersey, I ask my colleagues in the 106th Congress to join me in recognizing his service.

His persistence and hard work have ensured a better life for individuals who have certainly earned it: those men and women who have risked their lives serving the United States of America.

I rise before you today to recognize an organization which has served as the backbone for securing and protecting the rights of veterans of United States Armed Forces.

Mr. Siegman is the recipient of the Southern New Jersey Development Council's Chairman's Award for expanding development in the Southern New Jersey region.

Mr. Siegman represents the type of leader who is a tremendous source of inspiration for volunteers and the organizations that they assist.

Earl deserves a great deal of our gratitude and admiration for his tireless service.
