I certainly want to inform the body that I think it is a tremendous step forward in trying to make sure that we do have in this Nation schools that are safe. I also am very pleased, and I think we are doing an important thing, that we are establishing Washington, DC, as a model under this premise. Good Lord, if we cannot make the schools in Washington, DC, safe, I do not know how we should as a Federal Government expect any city to make their schools safe. I also want to commend the Senator from Illinois. I think the amendment she has offered is an excellent one. I support it. I think we are ready for a vote.
