very quickly, the balance has been reached in this bill. The most critical question is, what can you do with the dangerous child? It is very simple: If it is not a matter involved with the disability, that child could be disciplined like any other child. If it is related to the disability, as determined by a hearing officer, then there can be up to 45 days removal in an appropriate educational setting. If the problem still exists and the school can demonstrate that the child may be substantially likely to cause harm to himself or others, the child will remain in an interim alternative educational setting for an additional 45 days, et cetera-- tremendous balance, tremendous help to the present situation. Mr. President, I urge the defeat of the Gorton amendment.
