Elizabeth Dole: “Now I urge you to remain united, to continue to put veterans and caregivers first, and to pass these bills.”

Serving as a United States Senator was one of the greatest honors of my life.

Their strength was incredible. Yet, I could see they were carrying an emotional weight almost too heavy to bear.

I hope that that piece of legislation is going to pass because if we want to foster a Nation that supports hidden heroes, all hidden heroes, these wonderful caregivers, then it is important to pass both pieces of legislation.

I do not see how we can be a nation that truly cares for our military and veteran communities if we wait another day to get this legislation passed.
