“I am concerned about the privacy issue. I am very concerned about that. I am also concerned about the behavior of the Committee on Rules. I think that we want to be open and want to have the democratic process, but when the Committee on Rules just makes decisions to drop out things just because they have the ability to drop them out, without having a discussion on them, I think that it does not serve this body well. It does not serve the American people well. I am hoping that the Committee on Rules will take another look at that and not continue to behave in that fashion. This is not a perfect bill, but it is a step in the right direction. I think that it will make us internationally competitive, which we need to do. The time has come when we need to stop vacillating and to begin to do the right thing, as my constituent Spike Lee says in Brooklyn.”
