No parent should drop off a child at school and fear for his or her safety.

I urge the Senate to take action on it without further delay.

Surface transportation systems serve over 10 billion riders annually. Like me--I am one of those 10 billion riders--these people depend on the reliability and safety of this critical infrastructure, and so does our economy.

These proposed cuts would have a tremendous impact on first responders across the country, and especially on those in the city I represent.
