This war is not just about the safety of Israel or the freedom of Lebanon, it is about preserving civilization as we know it.

I beseeched and urged my colleagues at the Security Council not to play into the hands of the Hezbollah and Iran and Syria, because that's what they want.

Syria is a perpetrator and harborer and financer and initiator of terror.

Israel truly feels that it has to do as much as it can to degrade the capability of the Hezbollah.

I think that the statement made by the secretary general was very unworthy of such a seasoned diplomat. I think it was premature, hasty, deplorable and irresponsible.

This man is ruthless. This man has no compunction about killing women and children. It is, in fact, his declared aim, to kill as many Israeli citizens as possible, and, ultimately, to destroy the state of Israel.

This is why we have to see to it that Hezbollah is eliminated, and that threat is removed, both from Israel, from Lebanon, and from the region, and ultimately, the world, because Hezbollah, together with the Hamas, Syria, and Iran, do…

We will do whatever is necessary, by whichever means are necessary, in order -- in order to incapacitate the Hezbollah, and making it unable to terrorize us and Lebanon.

We will continue to seek them wherever they are. We will continue to try and make Israel safer and Lebanon freer.

Hezbollah is the finger on the long arm and twisted mind of Iran and Syria. They are not only destabilizing and terrorizing our region but the whole world.
