“I have an amendment at the desk. The Acting CHAIR. The Clerk will designate the amendment. The text of the amendment is as follows: Page 8, strike lines 19 through 22 and insert the following: (b) Authorized Expenditures.--Section 48101(c) of title 49, United States Code, is amended-- (1) in the subsection heading by striking ``Automated Surface Observation System/Automated Weather Observing System Upgrade'' and inserting ``Authorized Expenditures''; and (2) by striking ``may be used for the implementation'' and all that follows through the period at the end and inserting the following: ``may be used for the following: ``(1) The implementation and use of upgrades to the current automated surface observation system/automated weather observing system, if the upgrade is successfully demonstrated. ``(2) The acquisition and construction of remote air traffic control towers (as defined in section 510 of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018). ``(3) The remediation and elimination of identified cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the air traffic control system. ``(4) The construction of facilities dedicated to improving the cybersecurity of the National Airspace System. ``(5) Systems associated with the Data Communications program. ``(6) The infrastructure, sustainment, and the elimination of the deferred maintenance backlog of air navigation facilities and other facilities for which the Federal Aviation Administration is responsible.…”
