The Texas example is almost miraculous on how far students improved in academic achievement in the State of Texas under Governor Bush's leadership versus what we have seen here in Washington for the last 8 years of a White House where President Clinton and Vice President Gore have fully understood, and they even wrote books about the poor management in the Department and the reality that there was not enough flexibility, where we are not getting enough dollars to the classroom. Yet, they have done nothing. This is an administration that for 8 years has squandered their opportunity to help improve schools, and to look to the real examples and the real bright spots around the country where Republican Governors like George Bush have led the way in academic success and achievement for students.
