I am interested to hear the Senator make the point that an up-or-down vote is what we are asking for. The Senator was in the Chamber when the cartoon was displayed with highly offensive racial characteristics attributed to the judge from California. I ask the Senator if he is aware that this African-American woman, who in my opinion has been slandered, has been the subject of comment by Al Sharpton, one of the candidates for President. Al Sharpton said he disagrees with the woman and believes she is not qualified to sit on the bench but that she is entitled to an up-or-down vote. Is the Senator aware of Mr. Sharpton's comment on that?
