“But at the same time the country is beginning to discover this debate. While everything may have been said on the floor, it seems that not everything has been said out in the country. It is interesting to me that we are getting more and more editorial comment throughout the Nation on this issue. One that came to my attention just this morning is in this morning's Washington Post. Those who get upset about what they believe is the liberal bias of the newspapers usually do not include the Washington Post among the list of those publications favorable to Republicans. There are columnists in the Washington Post that are considered favorable to Republicans. Mr. Novak comes to mind. But the Post itself is considered to be part of the leftwing media, according to those on talk radio. So when someone who is part of the establishment of the Washington Post editorial page speaks out on this issue and says something contrary to that which is normally assumed to be the party line of the mainstream media, it is worth noting and commenting on.”
