Community policing is really a concept where the police officer works and lives in the community in which he is policing. It is usually a small geographic area where the police officer basically befriends the people in which he is serving. Many people refer to community policing probably in the larger cities as walking the beat. While you are walking that beat, you are learning to communicate with the people you are serving. You have built a friendship. You have built a trust. You actually have built a partnership in the community in which you are trying to serve. Once that partnership is cemented, then the faith, the trust and the confidence in law enforcement comes back.
