If our posture on September 11, 2001, was we are going to take the wall to them and we are going to stop this evil, in 2017 we can barely say that we have stopped that.

We have completely failed to define the enemy, and because we have failed to define the enemy, we are flying blind.

The ideology of Islamism or political Islam contradicts the constitutional values of this country.

We must absolutely separate the many Muslims who do not practice Islamism from those who do.

We as a Nation must be committed to shut down the ideology of Islamism, just as we defeated fascism, just as we defeated communism.

We must have moral courage and intellectual courage.

I agree with President Bush, I agree with President Obama and with all the leaders of the civilized world that we are not at war with Islam. But within Islam is a radical movement that has declared war on us.

The grim truth is, for me to be safe, I have to outlive a generation of young minds who are polluted, whose minds are contaminated with this ideology.

It's time that Muslims take to the streets in large numbers to show the same solidarity for the freedom of expression.

The use of words, the use of speech, the use of images can never ever justify, never ever justify a retaliation of violence.

What I'm saying is there is a third way. Never limit your options to just two.
