We have one common enemy and that is academic failure.

I think we need to pay teachers significantly more.

Let me be really clear: what many states on a voluntary basis have done, including your state, is raise standards.

This is not left versus right, R versus D. This is a threat to dismantle public education and higher education in our country. And we should all be very, very scared of what could happen here.
