If perfectly inoffensive was what wins Michigan, Donald Trump would never have won Michigan.

I think we’re learning that the Michigan electorate is actually sick and tired of having two options that look virtually the same.

The primary would pale in comparison to the cynicism that would come from my Republican opponent, former Representative Mike Rogers, and President Trump during the general election.

Always magnanimity in victory, however much we might disagree with our Democratic opponent, there is so much more that unites us than divides us.

It’s a turning point for our nation.

Abdul El-Sayed narrowly won Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary yesterday, beating moderate Rep. Haley Stevens by just one percentage point, despite leading by double digits in the polls.

What we showed is that the power of our many is greater than the power of their money.

Tomorrow, we begin to mend fences.

However much we might disagree with our Democratic opponent, there is so much more that unites us than divides us.

This is a big movement.

This is not about the future of a party.

Because if there is one question of a political philosophy that ought to animate us all is, ‘What would we build, what would we do if we treated all of our kids like they were all of our kids?’
