As Prime Minister, I was duty-bound to act with integrity and adhere to the constitutional process and established legal procedures.

If nothing is wrong, stand up for it. If something is wrong, prosecute. If found guilty and sentenced to prison, then serve the sentence.

There has been some debate over Tabung Haji. I do not wish to comment at length, but hopefully at Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting we can reach a decision.

Therefore, for the first time since Independence in 1957, the Madani Government has designated some of Kuala Lumpur’s most valuable land as Malay reserve land.

Since Independence in 1957, no new Malay reserve land had been created in Kuala Lumpur. Existing land was simply being sold off.

Felda’s fortunes changed about seven or eight years ago following changes in management and excessive political interference.

Public office is not a vehicle for personal or family gain, but a responsibility to serve with integrity.

The government has a responsibility to ensure that those entrusted with public office uphold the highest standards of integrity and honesty.

The important thing is that the benefits flow back to the country. Hotels will be fully booked, airlines such as Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia will receive more bookings, the tourism sector will grow and the local economy will continue to…

So defend a government with a good track record, and maintain this relationship with the Menteri Besar so that work and teamwork remain the focus.

Real independence isn’t just about economic or technological success but also requires preserving the nation’s core identity and values.

If we only reach for the sky because we are chasing technology, modernisation, and renewal but abandon the aspects of faith, morality, and character building, then we will be dragged along regardless of dignity, submitting to pressure.

That is why I say, while we reach for the sky, we must anchor ourselves to the earth.

However, ‘reaching for the sky’ has its dangers, because AI, new technology, information technology, quantum computing - without values and morals, will erode humanity as well as moral and ethics.

This is what is meant by ‘reaching for the sky’.
