Incitement and hateful rhetoric is wrong and dangerous.

We need to lower the temperature.

I’m calling on Canadians to reject violent rhetoric about their elected officials to preserve vigorous debate.

“This puts Lewis at risk.

“I now have 24-7 security at my home and I believe the incident could be related to rising rhetoric against my fellow MPs.

“Such attacks are unacceptable and will not deter me.”

I am sure this will become apparent in time and I will await the facts until commenting further.

As the investigation is ongoing, we still do not have information with regards to a motive for this incident.

I welcome word of an arrest and charges related to the arson incident outside my home on August 27th, and news the police are seeking an additional suspect in relation to this case.
