We felt it’s inappropriate to have a big joint celebration when we’re working through those challenges.

Let us remember why we built this bridge: to connect our communities and our countries, to inspire and improve lives, to create and safeguard jobs, to build a resilient future — and to build Canada strong.

In turn, we remain committed to opening the bridge on July 27, and to celebrating this milestone among Canadians on July 24.
