I have not talked to a person in my State who has not been affected by a person in their immediate family or extended family with prescription drug abuse. It is something that is of epidemic proportions that we have to fight and work together on. Less than a month ago, I was so proud when the Senate came together to unanimously support an amendment I offered with Senators Mark Kirk, Kirsten Gillibrand, Chuck Schumer, and Jay Rockefeller that would make it far more difficult to abuse addictive pain medication by reclassifying drugs containing hydrocodone as schedule II substances.…”
