When Ronald Reagan raised the gas tax--and, yes, for our Republican members, Ronald Reagan raised the gas tax--when he raised the gas tax, he said, why would we put off for 5 or 10 years doing something that we need to do today, because it is going to be twice as expensive in 10 years. President Reagan was right. The time to act is now.
