I hope that he will agree with me that as important as improving the security in those areas is, our job is not complete until we pay similar attention to the security of our freight rail system. One of the most serious vulnerabilities in the nation's transportation system is possibility that terrorists may target hazardous materials being transported across this nation's vast and largely unsecured freight rail network. I am sure the Senator is aware that several studies conclude that the chemical industry is particularly vulnerable to terrorist attacks, and point to the shipment of hazardous materials by rail as one of the most serious threats to the industry.
