The gentlewoman may not take the money, the parties take the money, and to be fair, the Democratic Party is also dipping into the tobacco till, perhaps not to the extent that the Republican Party is. No one has clean hands on this floor. But the only body, the only people who are capable of cleaning it up are the ones right here, right now, and we have that ability to do it. There is cynicism across the country, and perhaps there is some even in the gentlewoman's district, because I know there is in mine, those who feel that this democratic process is being taken away from the average citizen on the Main Streets of rural western Wisconsin, and it is going to large money, special interests that are dominating the political agenda out here in Washington; and that is what this debate is all about.
