“Do we not want the parents of the children to be actively involved in the education of their kids, and do we not want the communities where those parents and children are to make decisions on how we can best educate the kids and what it is those kids should be learning in their hometowns, in their own homes, and in their own communities? Is that not what we should be doing with education? And what is there again that would lead us to believe that somehow if you manage to get a job inside the Beltway, you become so much wiser than the parents and the people in that community out there? What is there that would lead us to believe that the folks here in Washington, and there are good people out here, but why would we think that they know how to better educate our kids than the people back home in our communities and our own homes?”
