When people are on welfare they are depending on the Government for their raise, they are depending on the Government for everything they get. In this place they were taking me around, they were showing me how people left welfare and got their first job. But they did not talk to them just about their first job after they leave welfare. They were showing them their second and third and fourth job, they were all the way down the line to where their fourth job would be and how much money they could earn as they move through this process. In other words, if they were willing to take responsibility for themselves and work hard, they could actually get ahead in America. That is what made this Nation great, and it provides hope and opportunity for their families to live a better life than they thought they could.
