Perhaps that should be higher, but you add up these final last three numbers, Mr. Speaker, and it tells us we are not in desperate need of letting more people in this country. There are people who only want to kick out people who have a criminal record. First of all, it would be very unfair to the people who obeyed the law to come here. Secondly, it means we may be letting in hardworking people, but people who don't share our values. Third, it means we are driving up housing costs. Fourth, it means America will become more crowded. I am old enough to remember when all good environmentalists did not want a lot of immigrants here because they wanted a more natural state. In any event, these are things we should remember when discussing immigration.”
