Thomas Foley: “Think with about your own family. When you are planning something for your future, I am certain you and Judy sit down…”

On the recordMarch 5, 1996
Think with about your own family. When you are planning something for your future, I am certain you and Judy sit down and go over the pros and cons of a situation, you review where you are currently, where you hope to be, but you do it through a deliberative fashion. In Government it is we who have set it up, we have done our job, let us leave it alone and forget it. And that I think is a significant problem, because there is no oversight, no checking up on the kind of initiatives that were proposed and whether they yield any benefits. So sunset review, your initiative to push and pursue this legislation, it is vitally important for Congress to become more efficient and effective.
