I fully appreciate the sentiments of the Senator from South Dakota. The President's request for emergency funding for the Bureau of Indian Affairs is $10,800,000. The Appropriation Committee's recommendation, based on updated information about the costs associated with these storms, is $20,566,000. Of the additional amount included in the committee-reported bill, $1,059,000 is directly attributable to the efforts of Senator Daschle.
