As a result of that set of facts, themselves a result of a long investigation on the part of the Seattle Times, the Senate unanimously passed an amendment that says "The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development shall bar any person from participating in any activity under the native American housing block grants program under title I of the Native American Housing Self-Determination Act of 1996 or any activity under the jurisdiction of the Department of Housing and Urban Development where such person has substantially, significantly, or materially violated the requirements of any such activity.”
