The commercial sector is not being driven by U.S. Government labs. It includes big data, advanced computing, miniaturization, robotics, AI, and nanotechnology among others. And all these things are being driven by the commercial sector. The Department of Defense, realizing this reality, has set up the Third Offset Program and the DIUx program in particular to leverage the commercial sector to ensure that the United States maintains a technologic and strategic edge.
