“I thank Representative Schakowsky for her comments. My colleague, the gentlewoman from California, Barbara Lee, has been such a champion for families, for children, for people of color, for low-income families across this country and knows the history of this country. This is not the first time that we have separated children from their parents. Madam Speaker, I yield to the gentlewoman from California (Ms. Lee) to say a few words on this, as well.”
