Some people do not really understand what we mean when we talk about the disabled veterans tax. But it is a discrimination against veterans. If a veteran is an individual who has served the country and has qualified to receive a pension, they get a pension. But if they have become disabled in some way and they qualify for disability benefits, they get disability benefits, or they qualify for disability benefits. But the tragic fact is, for every dollar that a veteran, a disabled veteran, gets in disability benefits, $1 is subtracted from their pension. So, in other words, the disabled veteran is actually paying for his or her disability, and it is a discrimination, it is an injustice that needs to be corrected. We would have corrected it. The Democrats in this House have been trying for months to correct this injustice, and the President fights our attempt to get rid of this disabled tax.
