“I respect his commitment to working on the R&D tax credit expansion or permanency and I take him at his word that he is very earnest and will work towards this. I guess the reason we are bringing this up today is that we do have a fundamental difference about how to move forward with the economy and where the White House is on this proposal. What I am trying to say is not extension of R&D, but permanent R&D tax credits are a better economic stimulus than what the current underlying proposal gives to the American public. Let's think about it: A dividend tax cut that would give some money back to investors who may or may not reinvest that versus companies that have proven they have taken the R&D tax credit and turned that into new products and services, and have hired people to, in fact, do the R&D which we are talking about.”
