There is strong pressure for elected officials to endorse fellow incumbents. It’s a way of maintaining relationships, part of the quid pro quo of governing. I understand this, but it’s not the way I want to do politics.

He’s equally at home deep-diving into housing policy and knocking on the doors of actual houses to hear from his neighbors about their lives and concerns.

Tonight, our attention belongs to the people whose lives were taken, those fighting to recover, and the families beside them.
