Katie Wilson: “Tonight, our attention belongs to the people whose lives were taken, those fighting to recover, and the families beside…”

Turning on more cameras won’t magically make our neighborhoods safer.

I do not take lightly what it means to make decisions that affect people's safety and their lives.

Impacted families are living through the worst moment of their lives, and an entire community is trying to understand how a gathering built around culture, connection, and joy ended in gunfire.

I share Chief Barnes' hope that we can return our focus to addressing youth gun violence and ensuring that every family can feel safe in their neighborhood and across the city.
